If you are playing a Level 6 or 7 mission and a Krellan ship reports enemy activity in a system that it has just mapped, your XO will ask if you want the KS to search the system. If affirmative, then the KS will be given Patrol System orders for that system.

If it encounters a starbase during the search it will report it and switch to Hold Position mode so you can decide what to do with it. If you want the explore/scan planets, you will have to use the Move To command to send the KS to the planet. There is not an automatic Explore Mode like with probes, because the asset involved is less expendable.
